Public Places and Roads
- Miranda, New Zealand... located near the
Firth of Thames wetlands, and home to the
Miranda Shorebird Centre.
- Via in Miranda... a road in Rome, Italy that
runs near the Forum. My friend
Sharon took this photo when she was traveling with Ian.
- Miranda-bad... a swimming pool in Amsterdam,
I think on de Mirandalaan (-laan is a suffix meaning "avenue").
de Miranda was an important alderman or mayor in pre-WWII Amsterdam.
de Mirandalaan 9, 1079 PA Amsterdam, the Netherlands (thanks
Marc de Vries)
- Miranda Ave... a street in Palo Alto, CA
- Miranda Trail... one of the many trails at the
Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron,
New Mexico.
The trail was named after Miranda, a Mexican who Beaubian got to
partner with him to secure the 1.5 million acre land grant from
Mexico in 1846 that includes the current 127,000 acre ranch (from A Little History Lesson).
There's also an Unofficial
Philmont Scout Ranch Web Page. (Thanks Stu Margrey of Denton, MD, who
says that he named his daughter after this trail.)

Miranda Video
...a video rental store in Manila, Arkansas. At the time I thought it was in
Oceola, because that's what the highway exit was marked, and it turns out
there is another one nearer downtown Osceola,
but this one was in Manila. Rob and I were driving back from Memphis in
my brand new Honda, and it had gotten dark because I'd blown a tire outside
of Graceland late on a Sunday afternoon and we were driving on my spare and couldn't go
above 50 and we had stopped to get gas and a flashlight and anyway
they were very nice people, and let me have this blank membership card.

I'm always looking for
more Miranda trivia, so if you have any drop me an email.
(I used to have a guestbook, but it got too much spam.)
