Miranda's Miranda Fest: Mir

• ...my college nickname. Freshman year everyone had a message board on their dorm door. I used to sign my name "Mir" cuz I was too lazy to write my whole name out, and people just started calling me that. When I got to choose my login on the CS departmental machines I chose "mir", which helped it stick a little longer, but no one really calls me that any more.
• ...the Mallincrodt Institue of Radiology (with web site http://www.mir.wustl.edu/, at my own Alma Mater)
• ...Maximum Impact Research (with web site http://www.mir.com/ - it's like it's my very own business!)
• ...w3mir, a script for mirroring weblets
• ...Mir, the Russian Space Station. I believe it's pronounced to rhyme loosely with mere (as opposed to people that call me Mir, who rhyme it with fur), and in block letters it is spelled MNP, except that the N should be backwards. (The letter "R" in Russian is written "P".) It means peace. I'll give extra credit to anyone that sends me a sound clip of someone who knows how to speak Russian better than I do saying it :)
• ...MIR, a computer virus (generally known as the Dark Avenger)
