• Ernesto Miranda... the plaintiff in Miranda v. Arizona, the Supreme Court case from which we get the Miranda Rights. I have an entire page devoted to Ernesto Miranda, Miranda v. Arizona, and the Miranda Rights.
• Francisco de Miranda... a Venezuelan revolutionary. encyclopedia.com says: 1750-1816, a Venezuelan revolutionary. A Spanish army officer, he fought in both the American Revolution and the French revolutionary wars, was in the service of Catherine the Great, then joined (1810) the revolution against spanish rule in Venezuela. He commanded rebel forces and served briefly as dictator, but military reserves forced his surrender (1812) and imprisonment. He is known as the Precursor, to distinguish him from Simon Bolivar, who completed the task of liberation. (thanks, Miranda Beverly). • Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola... ("Pico") an Italian philosopher and scholar during the Renaissance, who wrote Oration on the Dignity of Man. Here's a chapter by Walter Pater about Pico, Italian scholars and the Renaissance.

• Miranda Lambert... a country singer
• Marlui Miranda... another Brazilian singer, "the consummate interpreter of Brazilian Indian music"
• Miranda Warning ...a band.
• Miranda! a band from Argentina that is now based in Miami. You can find some articles, videos and lyrics on rock.com.ar, and they have a fan site (both in Spanish).

• Carmen Miranda ...a singer/actress from Brazil (she was born in Portugal, but moved to Brazil when she was 2). Most famous for wearing a giant hat covered with fruit. There's a film about her life called Carmen Miranda: Bananas is My Business. The press release for the movie has lots of interesting info about her life. Aquarela has a good photo of her, and this page from a Brazilian music site lists some of her albums. I've also found a list of Carmen Miranda links, including businesses named after Carmen Miranda Bombshells.com has a gallery of Carmen Miranda images which also includes a biography.

• Miranda DePencier ...Josie Pye in the TV series Anne of Green Gables Miranda Otto ...the actress that played Eowyn in The Lord of the Rings

• Angel Miranda... a pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers.
• Miranda Sharp... an Italian model, featured here on the cover of the Italian edition of Glamour magazine.
• Byron Miranda... weatherman that used to be on CNN, but is now on KCBS-2 in Los Angeles.
• Miranda Hope... Bob Hope's granddaughter. She oversees the Bob Hope Endowed Fellowship Fund at Columbia's School of the Arts.
